Legends Of Kaigon
Carebear N00b
A New Adventure
Many of you have asked me, time and again, why I haven't taken my Pinky war to Darktide.
Well, aside from my failure to believe that anyone on Darktide actually wears a Pink robe (seems like an easy way to get on a KOS list to me), its because I've already tried Darktide.
That's right, Kaigon went to Darktide. Only Kaigon went incognito, so as to avoid people who don't like my site and thereby wanting to exact their revenge upon me for having wasted their time.
Thus began the reign of Frog King.
Admit it, he looks cool, even with that stupid ass helmet thing.
Using my super skills of template wizardry, I created a custom made character that would be able to do all kinds of great stuff.
Or at least, that's what I thought at the time. This was all way back when Kaigon was still whooping up Monougas in The Pit. So my uber template wasn't quite as uber as I'd originally thought.
Having been told that extreme templates make playing on Darktide rather difficult, I gave myself way too much endurance, and not enough strength, coordination, or quickness.
Don't even get me started on the focus/self.
I decided that magic was essentially useless, as it would take away from my godly melee skills, which were even more pathetic than my base attributes.
I specialled Spear and Staff. Trained arcane, healing, deception, melee defense, and some other worthless crap.
Frog King was as gimpy as they come.
Anyway, I logged into my new world in Yaraq, and decided to have a look about.
So far, so good.
Er…
I figured that I should get as far away from the lifestone as I could, before I turned red again.
I ended up in town. I ran into a guy who was buffing himself, so I stopped to greet him, and potentially make a new friend to adventure with.
To which he responded:
To which I responded:
Apparently Bael's protection for my weakness had worn off, without my realising it.
At least I'd learned an important lesson: Roleplay speak is not well recieved on Darktide.
Next time I'll use a different interaction technique.
I headed back in that direction to get my body, but got lost, and… um… turned red a little too early.
So I took off again.
And ran into trouble again.
So I took off from the lifestone AGAIN.
Darktide was proving to be a little difficult.
Its a good thing I was still level one, otherwise the vitae would be insane.
I ran back to town again, this time in a straight line, hoping to find the shelter and protection of a monarchy…
I followed my new friend into the mage shop, so that he could turn in his trade notes to give them to me. This seemed odd, but I followed suit nonetheless.
And then he started the buffing process.
Needless to say, his heal didn't work so well either.
I promptly broke from him, and decided to go it alone.
I took off running a LONG ways away from my lifestone. I wanted to adventure away from the hustle and bustle of the busy city.
Well, that, and it took me a long time to shake this guy…
I DID eventually shake him, and I was left free to hunt things on my own. I hunted a lot of monsters, and since my template rocks for low levels, I gained levels fairly quickly, picking up decent loot for my level.
Frog King was becoming a pretty good toon.
And that's when it happened…
The Lifestone began to mock me.
I decided to play it cool, and try to reason with it.
Ok, now I was starting to get mad.
Amazingly enough, he wasn't lying. Two PKs showed up and attacked me, but they weren't as fast or experienced at running as I was, so I got away.
In the end though, it was still the Lifestone who had the last laugh.
And so ended my first real adventure in the world… of DARKTIDE.
